Helping lawyers master the art of advocacy
Understanding the law is generally a given for lawyers.
However, the art of examination or cross-examination of witnesses and the ability to plead a case with clarity and conviction are not necessarily talents with which all lawyers are blessed. On the other hand, trial skills can be learned. The Trial Masters program is geared towards assisting lawyers improve upon and master courtroom skills.
Trial Masters Method
A unique and effective trial skills program:
- Each training session is preceded by a theoretical course aimed at teaching basic and precise advocacy skills which participants will then apply.
- The training sessions offered are concrete and interactive. Participants will perform drills and proceed to examine, cross-examine and re-examine witnesses in a simulated trial situation.
Each participant benefits from immediate feedback:
- All performances by course participants will be analyzed and commented on the spot. Feedback will be centered on ensuring repetition of positive elements of a performance, targeting weaknesses and providing specific corrective measures that can be implemented immediately.
- Critiques are done with respect, taking into account each lawyer’s style and level of experience, thereby allowing each participant to improve his or her own level of performance.
Video Feedback:
- A picture is worth a thousand words. For the trial lawyer, the possibility of reviewing a performance on video is a prime opportunity for self-evaluation. Each performance is recorded on a memory card which is then provided to each participant at the end of the program.
